Picnic for Nature

Picnic for Nature is a NSW-wide event, where passionate environmental advocacy groups come together to spend a day in nature with their community. It’s a chance to remind your neighbours, friends and family of the magical ecosystems that are right on your doorstep and why they deserve to be protected.

Picnic for Nature started in 2022, and is now an annual event held in October. In 2023, we had 40 Picnics held in collaboration by 63 environmental groups, with over 1,000 attendees across NSW. There was a variety of picnic styles and activities, including:

  • Bug counts
  • Identifying native flora and fauna
  • Quizes
  • Bush walks
  • Live music
  • Tree planting
  • And many more.

For the Picnic for Nature organisation, NCC provides support through:

  • A Host Guide to get help you organise (see 2023’s Host Guide here
  • Promoting each Picnic and showing it on our website in the lead up
  • Support with advertising material creation
  • Encouraging our supporters to RSVP

We’ve got some exciting ideas brewing for 2024, so stay tuned!

In the meantime, if you’re keen to host a 2024 Picnic for Nature please submit an EOI here.
